The Valencia Conference Centre has generated in six years, an economic impact of 215 million Euro for the city, thanks to the 1,000 events celebrated and the 600,000 visitors received.

Today Friday, (02/07/2004), is the celebration of the sixth anniversary of the conference centre. In a press release, it showed that the figures are “above the most optimistic expectations.” According to Jose Salinas, Director of the Conference Centre, these figures “encourage us to continue betting on Valencia as a quality tourism destination, such as for congresses.”

According to the data of the International Congress & Convention Association, Valencia has rose in these six years to occupy the 30th position from the 83rd position in the world preferred cities for meetings classification and from 57th to the 21st in the classification of European cities. These data are relevant for Valencia as it shows not only the spending capacity of the delegates of congresses, some three times more than a conventional tourist, but also in the opening of new horizons and employment opportunities.

During the first semester of 2004, where 77 congresses have already been held, 21 percent were international with more than 36,700 visitors. The Conference Centre has contracts of more than 100 events for the next years, as well as exclusive reservations for the year 2009.
