3rd World Sports Tourism Congress (WSTC) closes with a call for the legacy of sports tourism in destinations IBTM World 2024 empowers event professionals IBTM World’s Forum for Advocacy agenda announced
Organised by Grupo eventoplus, the second edition of an event that is already part of the national panorama: the MIS Andalucía (Meeting & Incentive Summit Andalucía) has moved from Seville to Cádiz for an edition that kept the fundamental essentials (an event concentrated in a day and a half of pure networking and meetings, an experience of the destination with immense good vibes). A great moment to update contacts and generate business, with the Valentin Sancti Petri hotel as a base.

Held from May 28th to 29th, MIS Andalucía 2024 together 120 professionals, Andalusian suppliers and buyers from all over Spain, who came ready to live the Andalusian passion, and to connect and do business. Many buyers came with projects to complete and had the best forum to advance in their event brief. Being a face-to-face industry, a professional workshop like this allows us to specify requests, understand services on offer, and above all, create the relationship that facilitates partnership, both for the client and for the supplier.

The programme started in Jerez with a welcome lunch at the Museo Palacio del Tiempo-Museos de la Atalaya, a clock museum with almost 2 hectares of gardens, a declared Historical Gardens of Andalusian Heritage. Inside is the Palace of Time, a collection of 300 clocks from the 17th to the 19th century (the most important collection of vintage European clocks in this country), where participants had the opportunity to hear them ringing synchronously. Enjoying the meal, surrounding by these treasures is definitely an exclusive experience.

After lunch, in the afternoon the groups could choose between three activities that connects participants and to have first-hand experience of what the destination can offer.  The Jerez route was a walking tour with visits to spaces and a tasting of Jerez DO wines. The Cádiz route was a catamaran ride through the Bay of Cádiz to get to know the oldest city in Western Europe with activities on board… dolphins spotted next to the catamaran included! Finally, the La Salina Santa Teresa route, which allowed the group to learn about an environmental project developed in the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park, based on the recovery of aquaculture and salt production.

In the evening, after check-in at Valentín Sancti Petri, participants enjoyed a dinner and party at its famous VAVA beach club, with a band and DJ… and how have we danced!

The next day started with meetings 1to1 between buyers and suppliers in the beautiful 1,000m2 meeting room of the Valentin Sancti Petri hotel, with high wooden ceilings and natural light. A warm welcome was given by Miriam Carrión (technical director of the Provincial Tourism Board of Cádiz) and Tania Barcelona (territorial delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Junta Andalucía in Cádiz) as well as Marinela Monge (MICE manager of Valentin Sancti Petri). A definitely productive and fruitful morning with 788 meetings booked, facilitated by the Grupo eventplus app powered by meetmaps. There were also 3,897 interactions through the app. (As the app remains open at this time of publication, this number continues to increase).

Lunch was held in a very special place, the Yeguada Cartuja Hierro del Bocado, where pure specimens of the Carthusian horse graze and grow. It is the most important reserve in the world of this specimen, participants had the opportunity to come up close with these beautiful creatures and understand them through workshops held during lunch.

An event is a team effort. This could be organised with great success thanks to the collaboration of great players such as sponsors, the Junta de Andalucía, the Provincial Tourism Board of Cádiz; as well as the host hotel, Valentín Sancti Petri. Transportation was provided by Rosabus, Black Box provided the beautiful LED screen that dominated the meeting room. The hospitality staff was from Organiza-te.

We are already preparing the next edition, which will continue to allow professionals to experience a great destination, catch up on suppliers and news in the sector, and generate business opportunities. Thank you to the great family of event enthusiasts who participated!
