The report presents the cities with between 200,000 and 500,000 habitants, in which is the city of Gijón, with a total of 1,073,786 participants in professional events held compared to the national figure of 2,925,962.
Asturias is located in the third place in terms of participants with 11.7% after Madrid and Catalonia.
In Gijón, the 28,17% of the meetings held are congresses, 2,82% conventions and 69,01% meeting sessions. The congresses take up 31,15% of the participants, 1,94% by the conventions and 66.91% by the meeting sessions.
The valuation made by the delegated from different events on Gijón is very positive, with the tourist information service by Infogijón is the most significant with 5,94 points on a total of 7. The total organisation of the city scored 5,9 and the scientific programa 5,88.
The general service of the hotels obtained an average of 5,54 points and the services offered by the venue of the meeting, a 5,29.
77,6% of the participants think of visiting the city again but for leisure. The average expense per delegate is 300 Euros per day.
Last year, almost 14,000 persons visited the city for professional reasons, a 38% of the total visitors.
