In early 2008, Maarten Vanneste published Meeting Architecture, a book which launched nothing less than a quiet revolution in our industry. The message in a nutshell: the meetings industry dedicates lots of time and money to logistics, and hardly any to content; it should renew meeting formats, integrate sciences like psychology, sociology or education methods to ensure more effective meetings.
The movement has picked up steam on both sides of the Atlantic and is still running well. Latest news? The book Meeting Architecture was printed for the third time, and is being promoted to students via discounts. A way to raise awareness in future leaders…
But more important: the movement is going from debates to practice, specifically to application in learning. The first one day courses in MAPTM (Meeting Architecture Process) are taking place in August in Italy, San Diego CA, and Ireland. And Maarten Vanneste taught the Meeting Architecture Process (MAP) at the annual conference of National Business Travel Association in San Diego. The association has decided to include it in their new Strategic Meeting Management Certification programme (SMMC). Tomorrow´s meetings will be focused on content and communication, more than on gala dinners and hotel selection.
