The eighth edition of Intur, the international Inland Tourism show, closed last Sunday, 28 November in the Feria de Valladolid. During the four days, 1,163 exhibitors from 15 countries were present, all the Spanish autonomous communities and 42,000 visitors, with an important number of visitors originating from Portugal, both professionals and the final public.

In the case of registered buyers, it included those from Argentina to Holland, Great Britain, Italy, Puerto Rico, Poland, France, Germany, etc.

Intur has been a good thermometer to get to know where Inland Tourism is heading for the future. The accommodation and transportation sectors continue to be its basic pilars but there is no doubt that there are now other options such as cultural, sports, meetings, health, gastronomy and oenology proposals. In fact, from the data on the tourism movements in Spain in 2003, leisure continues to be the main objective of travel and 15.5% of it corresponds to cultural tourism. Travel to foreign countries is more elevated, around 46.8 percent, and in European destinations, cultural tourism is up to 82.5 percent.

The inter-regional tourism has a large importance in Spanish travel, especially in the Canary Islands and Andalusia. Castilla and Leon is the first destination selected by the inhabitants of Basque country and the third by those from Madrid.
