The companies OnVantage and StarCite have announced their merger, creating the largest company in the world to provide event management solutions.

Both companies offer similar services, mainly contracts and technology solutions to omptimise event management in companies (specially the contract of services for events: venues, hotels, catering…) so event organisers can buy services within the contracted providers under the conditions that have been centrally negotiated. In addition to providing services to meeting organisers, both companies are also in the business of driving meeting business to hotels and other providers, which can also integrate this software in their own websites (for example, Carlson, Hilton, Hyatt, Morgans and Starwood integrate these solutions) to facilitate the management of meeting reservations.

StarCite president and CEO Michael Boult highlights the growing potential of this new market within the event industry. According to Boult, only 3% of events use event management solutions, which is a clear indication that this kind of service is still virtually untouched.
