What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
The leadership of Spain as a destination for events (placing each year two cities in ICCA´s top10) is also seen in its considerable supply of large venues. The country has a total of 427 venues with seating capacity for over 500 people in its main hall, according to a study by the Business School of the Chamber of Commerce of Seville.

For the third year in a row, students of the Master in Tourism Meeting & Congress Organisation of the School of Business at the Chamber of Commerce of Seville, have undertaken the study of search and cataloging suitable for meetings and conferences with more than 500 offices participants. Among the regions with the highest number of seats are Andalucía (97), Catalonia (51) and Madrid (50).

¿Positive figures? In some respect… but the study also reminds us two problems. First, oversupply, since according to the study, countries of comparable size have an offer that does not even reach 10% of the Spanish offer. And syndrome of the beautiful congress centre lost in a destination without infrastructure: the mismatch between the ability of some centres and the hotel availability around them. The study also notes that “our direct competitors can invest more resources in promoting a destination or add value to a particular product.”
