Over 100,000 professionals in FITUR 2006

The 26th edition of the International Tourism Exhibition, FITUR 2006, closes with a record in participation, according to the organisers. First estimates indicate that 105,000 professionals (3,000 more than in 2005) have taken part in this edition, as well as 7,000 journalists. Over the weekend, the exhibition received more than 100,000 visitors.
The seventh edition of the Meetings and Incentive Travel Workshop, Fitur Congresos, held two days prior to FITUR, had the participation of 153 Spanish companies and 198 buyers from 35 countries, where 4,200 sales meetings were held, without including the meetings which were not pre-arranged.
FITUR also awarded prizes in different categories to the exhibiting companies and institutions which participated in the exhibition, such as the awards for best stand to Andalusia, Canary Islands and Asturias, as well as Japan, Mexico and Morocco, and Sol Melia, Iberia and Grupo Transhotel in the business category.
FITUR 2006 brought together 843 direct exhibitors from 170 countries, in a total exhibition surface of 86,857 sqm distributed in ten halls of the Madrid Exhibition Centre.
