As part of its green actions, the Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona (CCIB) has inaugurated a new plant "for temporary waste transfer".

The plant has its own compactors and containers for a proper selection and process of the waste generated by the center (paper and cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, etc.). The plan also includes meeting points for the collection of special waste such as solvents, batteries or fluorescent.

The inauguration coincided with the celebration of the World Conservation Congress in its facilities.

Besides having achieved a 20% reduction in energy consumption per delegate since last year, the CCIB Catering uses biodegradable containers and utensils. For instance the glasses, silverware and cups made from a biodegradable material rich in sugars, cellulose and starch, as well as the glasses of coffee, prepared in sugar cane pulp and recycled paper napkins.
