More than 12,000 professionals from 56 countries in Liber’05

The International Book Trade Fair, LIBER, celebrated from the 12th to the 15th of October, held in Madrid, brought together 12,104 professionals from 56 countries worldwide, such as Mexico, USA., Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela and Chile.
Professionals in the show were mainly editors (26.4%), distributing companies (19.2%), and booksellers (15.8%), as well as literary agents, teachers, authors, and other professionals linked to the promotion and diffusion of books. International presence represented 17% of the total number of attendants, as the international missions of librarians and buyers, in representation of the main libraries in Europe, USA, China, Japan, and has had the support of the Institute of Exterior Commerce.
LIBER offered a wide programme with numerous professional encounters, such as those led by the Grupo Iberoamericano de Editores, the Foro Iberoamericano de Distribución Editorial and the Grupo de Entidades de Derechos Reprográficos de Iberoamérica, as well as round tables about current issues in the sector. According to the President of the Federación de Gremios de Editores de España, Emiliano Martínez, the contacts and commercial exchanges which have taken place during the show, “foresee a promising future in a short or medium term for the exterior projection of the Spanish publication.â€Â
