Valencia hosted 689 meetings in 2005, 4.23% more than the previous year. Valencia hosted 689 meetings in 2005, 4.23% more than the previous year. More than 150,000 delegates attended congresses, conventions and work sessions held in Valencia, 125 of which were international, 347 national and 217 local. Among the various facilities for meetings in the city, the Valencia congress centre received the highest number of attendants.

During 2006, Valencia will host various meetings, such as the 5th World Meeting of Families in July. In September, Valencia will be the World Capital City of Space, with the celebration of the 52nd International Congress of Astronautics. The city will also host the Festival Valencia Sport & Fitness and the 7th International Congress of Spanish General Medicine, among other events.

The city will also experiment an increase in new professional meeting facilities throughout 2006, such as the Convention Centre of Feria de Valencia, with an extension of 12,114 sqm and a total capacity of nearly 2,200 people, or the opening of new hotels planned for 2006-2007.
