A football championship among Aibo robots is part of the activities organised by the I Spanish Congress of Informatics, CEDI’2005, which will take place from the 13th to the 16th of September 2005 in the Granada Congress Centre. The aim of the organisers is the inclusion of the championship in the RoboCup, the objective of which is to develop a team of fully autonomous humanoid robots that can win against the human football world champion team in 2050.
The aim of this sports meeting, which will have the participation of robots from the universities of Granada, Murcia, Alicante, Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid and Jaume I de Castellón, among others, is to test the advances achieved in the last years in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence.
These robot football championships are of great interest for robotics researchers and engineers, as this kind of activity is an excellent proof bank for new systems, mainly due to the critical intervals of time in which the robot has to make decisions regarding its movements depending on the information of its surrounding received by its sensors which is in constant change.
The purpose of the CEDI’2005 is to be a framework for those professionals who are dedicated to research, development, innovation and university education within the Informatics Engineering field.
