The sixth edition of FITUR CONGRESOS 2005, The Meetings and Incentives Travel Workshop, held on the 24th and 25th of January in the Feria de Madrid, Salón de Reuniones y Viajes de Incentivos, que se celebró los pasados días 24 y 25 de enero, en la FERIA DE MADRID, reached high participation figures than expected.

The total of companies participated in this edition (buyers, sellers and exhibitors) raised to 362 with a higher level of international participation of 50.5 percent, against the Spanish presence that reached 49.5 percent.

The final result over these two intensive days closed with 4,500 sales meetings among the 150 companies and the 183 registered buyers. At least 33.5 per cent of these meetings were agreed upon mutually while almost 94 percent were indicated by interest of one of the parties.

This edition has the presence of buyers from 26 countries such as South Africa, China and Greece which were participating for the first time.The rest were: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain,, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.

Of the 150 selling companies that have registered, the largest percentage were hotels (71-47.3%); followed by convention bureaux (25-16.6%), congress halls (18-12%), travel agencies (17â
