Fira de Barcelona, currently under construction, will have the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya for its new strategic plan, which includes an additional investment of 323 million euros for the year 2006 to 2015.

The total investment for the expansion of the Fira will be of 900 million euros. Currently, hall number 5 is under construction as well as part of the walkway that will connect all areas of the site. This work will end in 2006 in which the Fira will then become the biggest trade fair area in Spain, with 263,520 sqm added to those already existing.

The last phase of the works will comprise of the construction of the Auditorium and the reconversion of the facades, in which the main entrance will be located in Amadeu Torner street instead of Botánica street. Once the expansion has ended, Barcelona will have the second biggest trade fair facilities in Europe, after Milan who has 355,000 sqm.
