Barcelona unveils its first ´Hotel Jewel´

The historic old jewelry shop-Masriera Bagués has just become a ´bijou hotel´ in the hands of Derby Hotels. This is a concept that works in other countries but that did not existed in Spain until now.
With an enviable location in the Ramblas, opposite the church of Belén and only some steps away from La Boqueria and the Liceu, the new luxury hotel occupies a 1850 Palace designed by Josep Domènech i Fontseré, which hosted the jewelry and the family workshop Bagués-Masriera.
2.5 kilos of gold to cover walls
Oliveras Bagués and Clos have created a company in which the second brings the building of Las Ramblas and Clos takes a part of it, which becomes part of Derby Hotels Collection. After two years of construction, this 5 * just opened the doors. It offers only 31 rooms, four of them Deluxe and three Penthouse, all with a piece of art in its interior.
