Companies could save up to 20% on average in their travel costs by improving their travel policies and increasing compliance by travellers, according to the latest study by Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT).
To achieve these savings, companies must improve their travel policy and strengthen compliance on five key points: advanced booking of airline tickets, restricted air fees, preferred suppliers, defining the authorised comfort level for the traveller (authorized class air ticket and hotel category), and preferred booking channels.
This study also defines the good practices that lead to these savings:
– To involve the management team in the organisation process to support and promote the travel policy.
– To provide clear and understandable guidelines to travellers to establish the standards relevant to the five key points to save.
– To standardise the policy regionally and globally to reduce costs and share best practices.
– To promote the policy implementation by communicating it and training staff.
