According to the Barcelona Convention Bureau, in the past year there has been an 18% increase in the number of business meetings held in Barcelona. According to the Barcelona Convention Bureau, in the past year there has been an 18% increase in the number of business meetings held in Barcelona. Incentive travel and conventions are the sectors with the highest increase of 30%, while the congress sector showed a slight 5.9% decrease in number of events, after a strong 2004.
The number of statal meetings grew nearly 45% and international meetings only experienced a 6% increase. The number of delegates in the last five years has grown 34%, from 255,433 to 343,005. The market studies this year foresee the participation of 400,000 delegates in Barcelona, a record in the city, according to the convention bureau.
