What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
Can we continue organising events ignoring social networks and the Internet? Obviously not: the online revolution impacts all forms of communication, including events. This impact of the Internet was one of the topics that were discussed at a roundtable organised by IED Barcelona, international school of design.

The participants were Paco Caro, president of Equipo Singular, Carlos Martorell, PR pioneer in our country, Micky Ribera, CEO of Globally, Paolo Miceli, president of IT communication.

According to many experts, 2010 will be a year in which events will be marked by social networks and online communication. What impact does this have on our business?

According to Paco Caro, “The Internet has changed the world of events. Enterprises are seeking short-term results, brands are particularly interested in increasing traffic and positioning their digital content to increase sales. This new scenario allows more directly locate the target audience, as well as to reach new audiences and to save costs…

Since new generations combine the Internet and reality, effective communication will necessarily include online actions. Paolo Miceli stated that the perfect communication and event combine blogs and social networks with traditional communication strategies.

However, further communication should not be limited to the use of digital media, as summarised in the motto Micky Ribera “Click to click + face to face”. “The personal relationship still has tremendous value, especially the one which consists in communicating directly and personally to opinion leaders.

Events organisation requires new forms of communication, broadcasting online events, openings and events that promote sales with discounts, among others. Carlos Martorell even described this moment as a great opportunity to reinvent oneself and reach a larger audience.
