The LG brand, along with Telefonica and retailer El Corte Inglés, has launched an international contest that will reward the fastest person typing text messages on mobile phones.

The winner in Spain will attend the final in the U.S. with the possibility of winning $100,000 and be recognised with a Guinness record. It is a good example of collaboration between retailer and brand in order to launch a new product and generate traffic to the point of sale. Until August 14th, the LG Mobile Worldcup tests took place three days a week in 50 stores of El Corte Inglés.

In addition to demonstrating their skills, online registered bidders may test the new terminal LG. This product is intended to provide a main sliding Qwerty keyboard, ideal for sending SMS messages. Contestants must demonstrate not only their speed when writing SMS, but also the precision with which they write. The astronomical $100,000 prize, which will be given to the international winner is “the largest award ever granted in competitions of this kind”. LG predicts that about 6 million people in the world will participate in the second edition of Mobile Worldcup.
