What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
4,765 delegates, 101 sessions, 260 faculty, 1,766 abstracts... these are a few figures illustrating the importance of the Heart Failure Congress organized by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and hosted by FIBES from 23 to 26 of May. Here are a few learnings from this mega-event.

The target? The target is cardiologists, interventional heart failure specialists, cardiac surgeons, internists, practicing general physicians, basic scientists, epidemiologists, cardiac nurses, industry affiliates… Unlike some other congresses, there is no direct contact during the congress with the population.

Innovation: Interaction is the name of the game today, and this event incorporated several innovative solutions in that respect, such as the Agora (a format of open forum), and interactive voting via the congress mobile app. “We diversify the format of the sessions to adapt to all types of audiences (the Agora is an example of this evolution: towards smaller forums that enhance interaction between speakers/chairpersons and delegates)”, says Valérie Thiollet from ESC.

Engagement. It is not only about engaging during the event: before the event, the ESC builds engagement via the website, social media and the mobile app (which is published in February with frequent notifications and updates to get attendees involved and used to the app). And after the event, via the congress website and congress resources (abstracts, slidesets, electronic posters are available on the Scientific Programme & Planner, available only to members).

Seville scores points. “It may sound obvious but we need real professional partners which we can rely on in terms of quality, timing, equipment, technology, partners used to working on international congresses and medical congresses, which are especially demanding. We were very happy with most services and suppliers, from the negotiation process to the delivery. Seville is not like many Southern destinations where the level of English is often poor and the quality of work not to the expected level”. Good job!!!

Next step: Seville again. Sevilla (y FIBES) will host another large event of this specialty in December: EUROECHO Imaging 2015 should gather around 4,500 specialists.
