What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
The Mannheim Energy Corporation, MVV Energie, the leading Mannheim clothing store Engelhorn and the Mannheim Congress Centre m:con are collaborating in a interesting joint venture: in the future they will be offering a shuttle service to important conferences using electrically powered cars to, from and within the city. This initiative is part of a new project known as "Electrically Mobile in Mannheim".

The kick-off for this joint venture was the opening of the first public battery loading station for electric vehicles on the 13th of April in Mannheim. Owners of electrically powered vehicles may reload the batteries of their cars and scooters free of charge on the forecourt of the MVV high-rise office building on the Luisenring. The electricity comes from renewable energy sources.

The second aim of the project is planning to demonstrate the serviceability of “Electrically Mobile” by introducing a shuttle service. Once the necessary electric vehicles have been obtained, they will offer participants of important conferences a regular shuttle service between the main train station, the Rosengarten Congress Centre and the downtown area. The m:con will additionally offer a transfer service for VIP customers, Keynote speakers, and Lecturers to and from Frankfurt airport with electrically powered cars.

Moreover, m:con has also initiated a co-operative venture with the City of Mannheim marketing board as well as with its partner venues, for example hotels, to offer guests and visitors the opportunity of using bicycles free of charge for the duration of they stay. They are also considering using electrically powered bikes.
