Hi there, I’m Mary Croquette
Let me tell you about…
POP-UP EVENTS
Try as you may but you’ll never get rid of them.
Many moons ago, before moving to the Marketing Department, one of my best friends, colleague and generally wonderful person, Ana, told me about pop-up events. I understood and empathised with her, but I didn’t fully grasp them until I joined her department.
These events which pop out of nowhere like mushrooms, from one day to the next, one day they’re not there, and the next they are (unless a retired person who gets up at 5 am, passes by and clears the patch whilst you’re still wiping the sleep from your eyes).
These fabulous events that always go hand in hand with “Ah, did I not tell you about it?” and “Well, it’s tomorrow” and you, like a halfwit say, “Go on then, let’s see what we can do” but you’re already thinking: “What a cheek! Bet he slept like a baby and now he blurts it out as if I could just click my fingers to organise it”. You’re also probably thinking, “There was me wanting to hit the gym to burn off the 2 kilos I piled on this week with so many carbohydrates in the catering…Thank God ‘crudités” and “Green Corner” are now all the rage. Because whether you’re celiac/vegan or you’re on a diet, either you bring your own lunch to work or you’re doomed.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, guys, but if you decide to dabble in the wonderful world of events, you will soon become familiar with this scenario in your professional lives.
Thank the heavens we have an agency that waves a magic wand and achieves unimaginable things to make everything a success, because if not, I don’t know what I would do. Let’s have a round of applause for the agencies!
Gotta shoot off now, the gym beckons.
Best wishes
Mary Croquette
