What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
Three days of discovery and celebrating the 10th anniversary of ibtm Arabia, we witnessed the growth and dynamism of the meetings market in the gulf region. Grupo eventoplus was once again invited to Abu Dhabi to see how the meeting landscape has changed with new and interesting developments.

Meetings ready

Abu Dhabi is the capital and second most populous city in the United Arab Emirates and also capital of Abu Dhabi emirate, the largest of UAE´s seven member emirates. As heavy investment continues to pour in to build the city and its infrastructure, the offers for any meeting in the city can easily be impressive: unique venues, service quality, full service agencies and all are accessible by a seven and half hour direct flight from Madrid on Abu Dhabi´s national airline, Etihad Airways

Results from the annual global Destination Index by DMC Pacific World confirms Abu Dhabi´s strong positioning in the MICE market, identifying it to be among the top cities in EMEA for incentives and conferences: more accessible routes, hotel openings and investment in technology to facilitate large-scale meetings…

The event kicked off with “Discovery Day”, where buyers were treated to a day to visit some original venues and attractions such as the Yas Events Centre, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Dinners were hosted at the Emirate Palace as well as a White Party at the Beach Rotana.

Say it with numbers

The 10th edition of ibtm Arabia has impressive numbers. Having gone through a major transformation, its exclusive meeting pod “closed” event has brought 230 buyers and sellers from more than 40 countries, with some 3,000 appointments that took place alongside networking parties and an opening forum that set the pace for the next two days of business with keynote speaker Carol Talbot who shared her experience on how to be successful and how to get the results you want.

“Welcome home!”

So says Stefan Fuchs, general manager of the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, who hosted the event as well as the Hosted Buyers. The award winning hotel employs 886 staff from 62 nationalities. Plus, if you are looking for an extraordinary incentive activity, your group can look forward to a world-class cooking experience with two-star Michelin chef Michael Caines in his restaurant Pearls. And a must to do while at the hotel is to go up on the Observation Deck on the 74th floor and get a breath-taking 360º view of the city.

“ibtm arabia really does provide the perfect setting for business connections. From Discovery Day providing an icebreaker to meet other attendees whilst exploring Abu Dhabi together, to two days of back to back business meetings to further those connections and create new ones, to the numerous networking events and the incredible hospitality of the 5-starJumeirah at Etihad Towers”, commented Shinu Pillai, Exhibition Manager, ibtm arabia.
