What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
He has been a member of ICCA for 14 years and since then has managed to place Latin America on the "ICCA map." Now he aims to lead the association, with the energy and actions worthy of a political campaign. We spoke with Arnaldo Nardone, a devotee of ICCA.

What is your vision of what ICCA has to be in the coming years?
The main objective is to maintain the competitive advantage for our members compared with those who are not members of ICCA. To achieve this, we have to strengthen our members in their respective regions, understand their ways of doing businesses, their needs and how to facilitate their access to customers. We must understand that each region has its own style and help each one maintain its competitive advantage. Of course, for that, we must use technology and enhance the ICCA database, in quantity and quality. We also have to explain to associations that a company member of ICCA does not merely have a label, but is truly an expert and will be a great ally to make your meeting successful.

What leads you to introduce yourself?
I love this business. Even my family has joined me in this business. 14 years ago when I joined ICCA, I saw that the tools it gave me enabled me to develop a destination such as Montevideo. We setup a regional office of ICCA, located in Montevideo. Then in 2005 I wanted to bring an ICCA conference to the region, and brought to Montevideo the ICCA Research Meeting. Then in 2007 we set up the ICCA Supplier Workshop.
I had a great learning with great teachers in ICCA, now I have much to contribute, and there is much we can change. We have to give a different touch to the way we do business, creating a great team to carry out this change.

Can you talk about the campaign and voting process?
In October, elections will be held at the ICCA Congress in Hyderabad (India). People can vote from a distance. The process has already begun. I created the web page of my candidacy www.arnaldochallenge2010.com, I sent out a letter to each member of ICCA. IMEX has been the last major international meeting and therefore a key moment in the campaign. We will continue with the campaign until October, heading to all regions of the world, working hard and demonstrating we can do it very well!
