Over 50 representatives of Spanish and Portuguese companies and institutions related to the meeting sector and who are part of the Iberian Chapter of ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) took part in the General Assembly held in Malaga last April.
Maria Joao Rocha de Matos, director of the Lisbon Congreso Centre, was appointed President. Rocha de Mato opened a new phase in the trajectory of the Iberian section of ICCA, which brings together 64 companies and institutions who provide services in the meeting segment in Europe and Portugal or are implied in the commercialisation of destinations.
Members of ICCA with headquarters in Portugal and Spain created the Iberian Chapter to highlight the importance of the Iberian Penninsula as a destination for international meetings and to increase their business options.
During the Malaga meeting, the members of the chapter also decided to hold the ICCA Annual Congress in Seville as a recognition by the leading international organisation of the importance of the Iberian Peninsula as an international meetings destination.
