The councillor of the Sant Marti district in Barcelona, Francesc Narváez, laid the first stone of the hotel Express by Holiday Inn Barcelona 22@, property of the company MedGroup, managed by InterContinental Hotels Group. The event took place yesterday (03/05/06) in the 22@ district in Barcelona, where the new hotel will be located, and was attended by Juan Couret, General Director of Med Basic, and Luciano Lusardi, Operations Director of InterContinental Hotels Group.

The hotel Express by Holiday Inn Barcelona 22@ will be the first hotel of MedGroup in Barcelona city with an investment of 17 million euros. The works are expected to end by October 2007 and the official opening of the hotel is expected to be the end of next year.

The new hotel will have 186 rooms, distributed in six floors. The ground floor will be designated for commercial use and there will be a two-floor underground parking lot. The hotel will be targeted at business clients.
