The Spanish Congress Centres Association, APCE, has published a study showing that Spain hosted over 5,800 events in 2005, nearly 17% more than last year, and received more than 4,000,000 visitors.

The 32 associated centres hosted 560 congresses which had the participation of over 414,000 delegates, as well as 441 conventions which were attended by over 185,000 people and 1,623 work sessions with 431,000 participants.

Compared to 2004, the number of congresses celebrated in these centres in 2005 increased 12%, as well as conventions and work sessions which increased 5% and 21.4% respectively.

According to the study of APCE, who celebrated their 10th anniversary this year, the geographic origin of events and participants in 2005 were mainly regional, followed by national and international.
