Presentation of the 2nd Spanish Alumni Business Cup- Audi Trophy

On 13th May in Barcelona, the 2nd Spanish Alumni Business Cup-Audi Trophy was officially presented by Juanjo Duelo, General Director of Creativities Group (the promotor of the project), Cristina Llacer, who is in charge of Events and Sponsorship of Audi and Jose Luis Doreste, who is in charge of technical in the regatta.

Juanjo Duelo highlighted that the relational character of this competition and commented that “what is unique in this event is not the sailing, but the group that it is directed to: it is the only event that brings together 80,000 alumni from Europe’s largest business schools, a public which is mainly executives.”

Why sailing? Cristina Llacer commented that this sponsorship is not an isolated action for Audi, but that Audi has been organising or sponsoring regattas for years, sailing is a sport that is “very related with the values of the brand: sportive, prestige, innovation”. Cristina also highlighted that her interest for the event allows the brand to be linked to sailing and to executives. Juanjo Duelo added that the “articles published after the first edition defined this trophy as an excellent platform to meet, relate and to do business”.

Finally, Jose Luis Doreste, a professional sailor (gold medalist in Seoul 1998, among others), explained the key of this sport, before bringing the registered journalists for a match race, a competition between 2 boats.

The regattas will bring together more than 1,000 alumnis (from schools such ESADE, EADA, IE, IESE, BOCCONI, HEC, LBS…) and will be held in Barcelona and Valencia from May to June 2005. The events will have various social events, with the presence of an Audi Village. In addition, after the summer, there will be a large celebration in Barcelona. “An event is ephemeral, and we intent to prolong its impact within the maximum time,” explained Juanjo Duelo.
