The tourism of Adventure, Culture and Nature will be back in the twelfth edition of Fitur Activo, a specialised section of Fitur 2005, the International Tourism Trade Fair, that is organised by IFEMA. The companies in this field, Spanish and foreign institutions will present their offer in the twenty-fifth edition of the international fair that will take place from 26th to 30th January 2005 in the Feria de Madrid.

FITUR ACTIVO has been growing with a segment of tourism that is getting more recognition in Spain. According to the consulting firm Christie & Co., the 7,400 companies in Spain dedicated to rural tourism move around 1,5 billion Euros a year and in the next five years, it is forecasted to grow 35% approximately. In 2004, Spain has increased 6.9% above the European average, with 21.3% being its growth till August. Other data that reflects the good moment for this type of tourism is the night stay in accommodations of rural tourism, with an increment of 12% last September, compared to the same month in 2003, with more than 442,000, according to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE).

All these figures are a clear indicator of the large interest of investors and hotel groups in this market. In this sense, Fitur Activo, the Active Tourism Guide (co-edited by the Spanish State Secretariat of Trade and Tourism) are positive about the presence of all the tourism offer in the stands of the fair, and the X Best Active Tourism Product Contest, organised in collaboration with the Aire Libre magazine.
