What is ‘NetZero Events’, the international commitment of the MICE industry? What do ChatGPT and artificial intelligence for events mean? Companies still far from defining sustainability targets in MICE
The second day at GIBTM started with positive energy as meetings continue to grow in the region shown by statistics from the IBTM Annual Meetings Research presented yesterday: 64.5 percent of buyers expect their volume of events to increase and over 90 percent of regional buyers predicted that their budgets will either rise or remain the same over the next 12 months.

The study also highlighted rates, added value and intelligent pricing as the top three priorities of buyers that could impact their decision on choice of destination and venue.

Today also marks a milestone in the Gulf meetings industry with the first ever education session in Arabic, titled “Business tourism – the Majlis of the 21st century”, it is presented by Emirati presenter and industry expert, Ali Al Saloom of Askali.com.

This website currently has 90,000 users with 25,000 users from theGulf local community.

As Ali explains, “we have imported so many experts from outside to the industry here; it´s about time that the locals can share our knowledge with the rest of the world”.

He hopes to inspire session participants to become aware of the regional traditions and use them to their advantage and for regional branding.

“Business tourism is still not known to many here in the Gulf, and I do hope to be able to help open the door to them and that they can eventually provide an authentic experience with those who come and do their meetings here with us”.

Against the desert sand and the cool sea breeze from the Gulf coast, the meetings industry promises to be yet another new experience that awaits many.
