The Government will promote sustainable tourism (and meetings!)

The government has announced a package of measures to support an environmentally and economically sustainable tourism. It has approved a package with a budget of 1,030 million euros.
These measures include the creation of a line of credit by the Official Credit Institute 500 million for businesses that enhance energy sustainability and accessibility. This is undoubtedly a reaction to the very negative year of the Spanish tourism industry: international arrivals have dropped 11.4% in the first six months of the year compared to the same period of 2008. Announcing these measures, Zapatero said Spain is betting on diversifying the tourism offer and promoting business travel, meetings or cultural tourism.
